How to sharpen a saw chain for non Handy Person
Sharpening chainsaw chain can be a little ‘intimidating. If you’re like me, knows nothing about engines or equipment, let alone how to maintain it. Have always been more interested in playing the computer to use your hands to fix things. But once I had a house, I found many small repairs that had to do. Call a handyman, human or repair something that can be very expensive for the small stuff. Sharpen a chainsaw should be the easiest thing I could do. I always thought size. It’s always been easier to just go buy a new string every time the chainsaw stopped working very well. Silly me. However, its amazing how easy it is to sharpen a chain now, instead of buying a bunch of new ones. Learn more.
Instructions
Things you need:
electric chainsaw
Chainsaw needs sharpening.
Chainsaw files. Get the file that goes with the blade. For some reason, I find this confusing, so I bought is not a file that matches the string, a chain saw. They try to be confused with the type of chainsaw.
Step
1
chainsaw file and measure
Obtaining file properties. Find the file corresponding to the channel. I found it confusing when I went in search of a file, because they had all these data on the type of model for the chainsaw and measures for the chain. I just found everything confused. I found a string that corresponds to my chainsaw to make. I was not sure of the model number. Then I thought about the size of the saw with the measure on the file. I know, seems pretty basic, but it seemed to work for someone who knows nothing of what happens with a chainsaw. I have also known for being a bit ‘dangerous when I use them, but no injuries to report so far.
When I bought the file I also bought a watch, or gauge, which is just above the record. This gauge has marks on it showing the corner. I was not sure why this was important, but I realized later. I found it came in handy, so you can get something similar.
If you do not mind spending the money you can get a fancy pencil sharpener electric chain saw that does everything for you. I do not want to spend money on something like that, so feel free to go crazy on that, if your wallet can take.
Step
2
Align the file on the channel, left
First of all make sure that the saw is out! You do not want to lose appendages in an attempt to keep the chainsaw.
Now that you have a chain saw file and a chainsaw, you’re ready to start sharpening the blade. If you look closely at the chain, you will see that there are some forms of the chain. Looking from above (the chainsaw), you’ll see every other corner on the right and the other, all from other angles on the left. These are the real blades. The file is inserted down the circular blade. I know, it seems that there are many more channels of blades that do all the work. Believe me when I tell you that if you improve those few strands with this file, you will notice a world of difference. Before I realized that it can effectively use a blade until it would cut more. I spent an hour trying to cut a small tree, once, with a dull blade. If we had taken five minutes to sharpen the tree was down in seconds.
When you use the file only move the blade from the chainsaw. In other words, do not file a chainsaw. I do not know why. The instructions said that, I must say that there are good reasons for this. Hold the saw regularly during the recording of each slide. The file will be adjusted downward on the blade, just above the forms of which we have spoken. If you have a line of angle measurement angles, then move the files in the right direction, maintaining the same angle in the file. If you do not have an indicator of just file in line with the angle of the blade. You get what you mean, you start the presentation. It’s amazing how quickly the information is carried through once you start doing the work.
File for each thread of others, who left him. Go all the way around each blade. Moving along the chain goes. Careful. You can always hurt on the chain.
Step
3
Now go to the other side.
Now switch sides and make each other element in the opposite direction. Sure they are always a few steps from the holding chain saws, and maintain the proper angle as you move the file. File around the chain. You should be able to see the slides that you have already made signs of. If you really want to be effective you can count the blades and then run each of them, counting down as you go.
Step
4
Be amazed at how the chain has recently seen sharp to cut trees and logs like a hot knife through butter. It ‘amazing to see that a filing of small things can make such a difference. I just wish I would have understood how the problem of long chain saw. Instead of using a dull blade and I wonder why I could not cut anything.
Now sharpen the blade after each use. It does not take much time and makes it very convenient to use. Another advantage of maintaining chainsaws Sharp is the saw itself seems to keep it clean. When I was with a dull saw blade like a rubber much more.
Good luck for the continuation of this chain saw strong!
